Tapuai Fa’amalua Tipi


Of Samoan descent, Tapuai is currently a lecturer at the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Education and is the Chairperson of The Fono Board. He has been involved with research projects in his current area that include adult education, equality and equity and pathways for Pasifika sports athletes and is also involved in other Educational boards that include a total immersion Samoan language nest called Leataata O Tupulaga O le Pasifika preschool in West Harbour/Massey and Board of Trustee member for Gladstone Primary School.  Tapuai was a professional rugby player in the late 1990’s – early 2000’s, and works with sports agencies such as Auckland rugby and High Performance sport New Zealand as a consultant on Pasifika sports athletes and career pathways. He is currently enrolled in PhD studies looking at Male Pasifika undergraduates in University studies and tracking why they are pursuing a qualification.
