Waitemata Family Start

Waitemata Family Start is a child-centred, family-focused, early intervention home visiting programme that works with families with the greatest needs, to build strengths and capacity to ensure that their children have the best possible start in life.

Services are delivered to families with complex or multiple challenges that affect parenting.

The programme aims to:

  • put a focus on children’s safety, protecting them from abuse and neglect
  • support parents so that they are able to better cope
  • improve health and education outcomes for children

The Fono delivers the Family Start Waitemata service with Family Works and Presbyterian Support (Northern).
