Family Start Senior Practitioner

Family Start is a key social service of The Fono with the team navigating for clients and delivering appropriate, relevant, and consistent health messages to them, their families and community groups.

About the role

This 40 hour per week position based on the North Shore is a special opportunity and requires a versatile senior social/family worker looking for an exciting new role as a senior practitioner.

Family Start is a free service for parents and caregivers who are facing challenges which are making parenting harder. The Family Start Senior Practitioner role is to support families to become more confident with their parenting and to improve their overall social, education and health aspirations.

About You

You want to make a difference in your community with young families, have the right expertise and have suitable experience in working with Pacific peoples.

Key Requirements:

  • Value the Family Start approach to working with families.
  • Know how to access community resources for families.
  • Be trained in ‘Parents As First Teachers’.
  • Level B or high social work qualification.
  • Have a full New Zealand Drivers Licence.
  • Experience in supporting staff to reach their potential.
