Youth Worker (Community Coordinator – Students)

Working with Pacific learners and their families to support them as they re-engage with learning.

About the Role

This is a great opportunity to build a solid career foundation in community support services.

In conjunction with The Fono’s Fononga community engagement team, this role will work alongside students and their families to support their re-engagement with learning. The role will involve coordination with The Fono’s selected education providers (including Oceania Career Academy) to monitor progress of learners and their families.

This rewarding role would be well-suited to a self-starter with strong cultural awareness, excellent communication skills and a wish to contribute to the development of youth through education and qualifications.

The position is funded by the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) Pacific Education Support Fund until June 2024.

About You

If you are a self-starter with strong cultural awareness, excellent communication skills and a desire to contribute to the development of youth through education and qualifications this could be the role for you.

  • Thorough understanding of Pacific cultures and protocols
  • Ability to quickly establish a rapport with young people
  • Capability to communicate effectively and persuasively with all people
  • Ability to prepare management reports in verbal and written form
  • Would suit an experienced youth worker
  • Full drivers’ licence
