About the role
We are looking for a customer service focused receptionist to be a FonoCare Service Agent at our central city medical practice.
Become a member of our enthusiastic FonoCare team. Training will be given in Medtech Evolution (the Patient Management System). Public Health – Programme Coordinator

About the role
Four years ago The Fono initiated a campaign to co-design a programme with the Tuvalu community through the churches to permanently address the prevalence of skin and soft tissue infections (SSTI). The campaign won awards for its success and innovation and was “branded by the Tuvalu community as Happy Skin”. A song was even composed about it. The success of that effort has led to The Fono being able to expand the programme in partnership with 12 Tongan and Samoan community and church groups. The contract has a further 15 months to run (but may be extended depending upon success).
This position is designed to coordinate the programme as an on-going project to reduce the rates of highly preventable and infectious SSTI Leading it externally in relationships with church and community groups and internally with clinical staff. Driving the development of new ideas, implementation, documentation and preparing reports on progress.
About you
We are seeking an enthusiastic person with the right blend of experience, health promotion skills and a strong belief in fostering equity in health and wellbeing for Pasifika
- General knowledge of the Pacific, health and social services sector
- Knowledge of the institutions important to Pacific peoples and the role played by them in Pacific life in New Zealand

Family Start is a free service for parents and caregivers who are facing challenges which are making parenting harder. The Family Start Worker’s role is to support families to become more confident with their parenting and to improve their overall social, education and health aspirations.
About you
You will have a real wish to make a difference in your community with young families, have the right expertise and have suitable experience in working with young people.
Key Requirements:
• Value the Family Start approach to working with families
• Know how to access community resources for families
• Be trained in ‘Parents As First Teachers’ or willing to be trained
• Level B social work qualification preferred
• Mandarin /Cantonese or Korean language could be an advantage
• Fully computer literate
• Have a full Drivers Licence

Mind Health Practitioner

About the role
Investment in our mental health services, now branded as LagiOla – Healthy Minds, is being increased as we continue to transform how The Fono provides health and wellbeing services for Pacific families, including now the newly defined role of Mind Health Practitioner (who may be counsellors, HIPs, RN-Psych, DAAPNZ registered, Social Workers, psychologists or who have suitable qualifications and experience).
This newly defined position provides fulfilling engagement with individuals and their whanau. Applying cultural skills in Talanoa, evidence-based interventions and relationship-based methodologies using the Ngalu Fanifo – “riding the wave” model. This approach to psychological distress, funded through our partnership with Pasifika Futures Ltd has worked exceptionally well. Proven to extend and strengthen The Fono’s integrated way of working, and includes teamwork with the LagiOla Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Counsellors, Health Coaches and integrated whanau ora and social services. Pacific values, beliefs and practices sit at the heart of what we do, guiding our approach to serving.
Mind Health Practioners may be full time or part-time.
About you
You will see this as a tremendous opportunity to use your skills and training in a vital area of need. You will be motivated by the opportunity to significantly contribute to improving wellbeing for Pacific people through the delivery of effective distress support, skills and strategies and other services. You will have:
- A current suitable qualification and membership acceptable to The Fono (e.g. Level 7 Bachelor’s degree in counselling. / SWRB Registered Social Worker / member New Zealand Association of Counsellors, member DAAPNZ, registered psychologist)
- A deep understanding of Pacific culture and protocols and the ability to engage with individuals and family from a variety of backgrounds in New Zealand and the Pacific
- A positive ‘can-do’ attitude and flexibility
- Energy to be part of, and contribute to the ongoing development of this exciting development at The Fono and other ongoing Pacific community-driven innovations
