Latasi Koro
With Tokelauan (Atafu) and Samoan (Salelologa and Lufilufi) ancestry, Latasi joined The Fono’s board in 2020.
Latasi is a University of Auckland Alumni, graduating with a Certificate of Health Sciences in 2013, a Bachelor of Health Sciences from 2014-16 and a Master of Audiology from 2017-2019.
Throughout her years at university, Latasi embraced a number of leadership roles. In 2018 she served as the events coordinator of the Pasifika Students in Health in New Zealand (PaSHNZ), a registered Charity supporting Pacific health professionals to complete their studies and transition into the health workforce. She also co-founded Auckland Pasifika Health Initiative [APHI UoA] in 2019 – a student led association supporting all Pasefika students studying health related careers in Auckland.
As part of the community, Latasi took the role of Aukilani Funding Representative for Mafutaga Tupulaga Tokelau i Niu Hila (MTTNH) and became a member of Mafutaga Tupulaga Tokelau i Aukilani (MTTA) and the Atafu Aukilani community from 2017 until present.
Latasi also enjoys:
- keeping fit and considers herself an amateur CrossFitter at her local Crossfit gym.
- being a Sunday school teacher at the Massey Congregational Union Church of New Zealand
- volunteering for Vinnies Youth Auckland (St Vincent de Paul Foundation). Latasi places family over everything and is renowned for being ‘favourite Aunty’.
