Kahu Taurima Kaiawhina
We are seeking a community-focused kaiawhina to support Pacific mothers, babies, and whānau through holistic, culturally grounded early-years care, working closely within a multidisciplinary team.
About the Role
The primary purpose of the Kahu Taurima Kaiawhina is to support the integration of the Kahu Taurima model with The Fono’s Pacific model of care, ensuring that Pacific families receive holistic, culturally appropriate support throughout the critical early years of their children's lives. The role will involve working alongside Nurses (RNs) and Social Workers (RSWs) and contributing to the ongoing development of programme features.
About You
What you will need for this Kaiawhina position is:
- Level 4 Qualifications in health or community care (or related field).
- Experience in community services, ideally with a focus on family and child health.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; proficiency in a Pacific language is highly desirable.
- Valid Full New Zealand Drivers Licence.
- Professional Integrity: High standards of honesty, accountability, and diligence in fulfilling responsibilities.
- Cultural Competence: Deep understanding of Pacific cultures, values, and protocols.
- Relationship Building: Ability to build rapport with a diverse range of people, including whānau, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Clear Communication: Strong Staff Recruitment Campaign Response verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write concise, accurate case notes and interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Enthusiasm: A positive attitude and the ability to motivate and engage others in the team.
