About the Role

We are looking for someone really wanting to make a difference as a Registered Nurse in our new Kahu Taurima programme. Complementing The Fono’s growing set of child-focused services, the organisation has been awarded a Waitemata region Kahu Taurima: Maternity and Early Years work programme.

This is a priority programme of work within Te Pae Tata - the interim New Zealand Health Plan and is like “Well Child” however The Fono will incorporate the distinctive Pacific characteristics that it delivers so well. Kahu Taurima is a multifaceted programme featuring specific additional services as well as using a wide range of existing elements of the FonoCare – Integrated Model of Care.

“Our approach is so well suited to delivering what is needed in maternity and early years (pre-conception to 2000 days of age)” says Tevita Funaki, CEO of The Fono Group. “Through easy access to quality healthcare right through we will ensure that each Pacific mother and child has a personalised wellbeing plan founded on cultural capital to provide a sense of identity, connection and empowerment”.

About You

What you will need for this registered nurse position is:

  • Have a sound understanding and appreciation of Pacific cultures and protocols.
  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with current (APC) practicing certificate.
  • Previous experience working with children (maybe an advantage).
  • Experience working within a community health and education role.
  • Full NZ driver’s license.
  • Keen to be part of making a difference for Pacific people.
