Oceania Career Academy Class of 2024 Graduation

The Fale o Samoa in Māngere was filled with joy and celebration on December 12, 2024, as Oceania Career Academy (OCA), Aotearoa's only Pasifika-owned and led Private Training Establishment, held its 2024 graduation ceremony.

Supported by whānau, friends, and loved ones, the graduates proudly accepted their certificates and awards, marking the completion of their qualifications in Construction and Health and Wellbeing. 

Kalapu ‘Ai ke A’u, with an appearance by Deborah Angelique Lagaaia-Paulo, took to the stage, entertaining the crowd with their lively performance.

Keynote speaker Mele Ha’amoa Māhina ‘Alatini, from the Tertiary Education Commission, emphasised the importance of education and the significance of OCA's role in providing opportunities for Pacific and Māori learners. She praised OCA's unique approach, acknowledging the benefits of engaging with learners and their families from the outset.

Mele also highlighted the promising job prospects for the graduates, particularly in the construction industry, which is facing significant labour shortages. She acknowledged the crucial role that OCA staff play in supporting learners, saying, "Your care and support of these amazing learners... goes such a long way." 

As she concluded her speech, Mele offered words of encouragement to the graduates, urging them to take pride in their achievements and to continue striving for excellence. "Just do you, BUT the best of you!" "
