Dental services that prioritise you

Relief of Pain (ROP) is emergency dental pain relief for adults aged 18 years and over. You must be a Community Service Card (CSC) holder to access the ROP service. Please bring your Community Service Card with you to your dental ROP appointment.

It will cost you $40 and must be paid on the day of treatment. This will cover the following:

- An examination

- An X-ray (BW or PA)

- A simple extraction

- A prescription

- and a treatment plan.

Please note: If the examination reveals that the extraction is not simple, and instead needs surgical extraction, fillings and RCT, you will be told further appointments are needed along with a treatment plan. Some treatments in your plan will have extra cost. Your dentist will let you know about any additional costs.

We accept EFTPOS payments only. We do not hold any cash on site.

We can also help you with in requesting approval to have treatments funded or partially funded from other services like WINZ, ACC, Whānau Ora etc. Talk to your dentist to find out further information and to determine if you are eligible for any support.

Children under 13 can get free dental care with a referral from their school or community dental therapist.

Teenagers from year 9 at school until they turn 18 (excluding international students) are eligible to receive free dental care at any dental provider. Many parents and children are unaware of this free service!

Dentists can help prevent dental problems by identifying the early signs of gum disease and decay. Regular check-ups can catch issues before they worsen, so it's important you're proactive and see your dentist regularly for good oral health.

OHT stands for Oral Health Therapist. They show you how to keep your teeth and gums healthy and teach you how to maintain that care at home. Their focus is on 'preventive' dental health, including advice on how to clean your teeth. We are super lucky to have them in our clinics!

We understand it can be scary when visiting a dental clinic, but we can assure you, it won't hurt you. Your dentist will explain the process step by step.

If a local anaesthetic is needed for your treatment, they will use a numbing gel before injecting it into the impacted area. You may feel a quick sting, but that's a reaction from the anesthetic blocking nerve signals to prevent pain.

Dentists use temporary fillings in certain conditions. A temporary filling is often used to relieve pain, if your dentist does not have time to put in a permanent filling, especially if you have a cavity in your tooth causing severe, sharp pain. Or if the nerve needs time to settle, you can receive a temporary filling as an emergency treatment.

These fillings can last a few days to a few months, depending on where they are in your mouth. Your dentist will let you know about required follow up treatment.

The fillings have usually set by the time you leave the dental clinic. However, after getting a filling, our dentist will tell you to wait for 2-3 hours before eating anything. This will let the anaesthetic wear off and prevent accidental injury to your mouth. Avoid hard or sticky food right after getting a filling.
