Family Start Worker
Seeking a passionate, registered Social Worker who is committed to strengthening families and improving outcomes for tamariki
About the role
As a Family Start Worker, you will deliver holistic, culturally responsive case management to families referred under the Family Start Programme (contracted to Oranga Tamariki).
Working within our Social Services team and reporting to the Team Leader, you will:
- Provide comprehensive case management aligned with Family Start programme requirements
- Support families to achieve positive outcomes in health, education, parenting and social wellbeing
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with whānau
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and reporting (including FS-Net and internal systems)
- Participate in supervision, training and quality improvement activities
- This is a 40-hour per week role (Monday–Friday, usually 8.30am–5.00pm), with flexibility required for occasional evenings and Saturdays.
About you
You are motivated, organised and culturally grounded, with a strong commitment to child and whānau wellbeing.
You will bring:
- Current registration (or eligibility) with the Social Worker Registration Board (SWRB)
- A recognised Social Work qualification
- Experience in social work, community services, Family Start or Whānau Ora programmes
- A full, clean NZ Driver Licence
- Strong digital skills and confidence using case management systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of Pacific cultures and communities (Pacific language highly desirable)
- Commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
