Family Start Worker

Provide strengths-based, holistic support to families focusing on improving parenting skills and child wellbeing.

We are seeking full-time, permanent Family Start Workers. These roles are ideal for Registered Social Workers who are passionate about supporting families with newborns. Using a strengths-based approach, you will assist families in enhancing their children’s social, educational, and health outcomes while linking them to relevant community resources.

About the role

As a Registered Social Worker (RSW), this is a great opportunity to develop your career and make your mark within New Zealand’s largest Pacific health and social services organisation. We are keen to get in touch with RSWs who have the right blend of expertise and enthusiasm. This 40 hour per week position based in Henderson and is a special opportunity for a strengths based RSW looking for an exciting new role.

Family Start is a free service for parents and caregivers who are facing challenges with parenting. The Family Start Worker’s role is to support families to become more intentional with their parenting to improve their children’s overall social, education and health outcomes.

About you

Provide strengths-based, holistic support to families focusing on improving parenting skills and child wellbeing. Work closely with parents and caregivers facing challenges, helping them to set and achieve positive goals for their children’s health, education, and social development.

Deliver culturally responsive services within a Pacific model of care, reflecting The Fono’s commitment to Pacific communities.

Maintain accurate client records and contribute to programme reporting and evaluation requirements. Operate as a Registered Social Worker based in Henderson, supporting families in Waitemata.

Key Requirements:

  • Registered Social Worker or actively pursuing registration.
  • Committed to and respectful of the Family Start model for engaging with families.
  • Skilled at connecting families with appropriate community resources and support services.
  • Proficient in using computers and digital tools.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency, especially in working with Pacific communities.
  • Holds a valid NZ driver's license.
