About the role

In this full-time role (40 hours/week, Monday to Friday with some evenings and weekends (they work Sundays too), you will support Pacific smokers on their quit journey using motivational, evidence-based approaches.

You will work closely with Tongan groups, lead programme sessions, and help build strong relationships based on respect and cultural understanding.

What will you do?

  • Connect with Tongan groups and communities with respect and knowledge of Tongan customs
  • Lead Smokefree programmes confidently in Tongan, supporting individuals and groups
  • Recruit and guide participants, helping them quit smoking with care and motivation
  • Collaborate with a passionate team and lead smooth programme delivery
  • Use your communication skills to connect with clients by phone, text, email, and face-to-face
  • Promote smoke-free living through education and community support

About you

You will bring:

  • Strong knowledge of Tongan culture and fluent Tongan language skills (highly valued)
  • Experience or willingness to learn Quit Coach training (Level 3 Stop Smoking Practitioners Training preferred)
  • Full NZ driver’s license
  • Warm, respectful, and patient approach to client support
  • Ability to organise your time and manage multiple tasks
  • A team player who stays positive, professional, and ready to grow
