The Fono Welcomes Dr Antonia Moa

We are thrilled to welcome Dr Antonia Moa to our dental team at The Fono's Henderson clinic. Antonia joined us in September, bringing with her extensive experience and expertise in dentistry.

Born and raised in Auckland, Antonia's Pacific heritage is deeply rooted, with her father from Vava'u and her mother from Talasiu, Tonga. 

Growing up in Auckland, Antonia pursued her passion for dentistry at Otago University, obtaining her BDS in 1999. She then worked in Auckland at the hospital and in private practice, before embarking on an international journey that took her to many different countries, including, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the USA. Living and working in these diverse cultures broadened her perspective on dental care and deepened her understanding of the importance of accessible healthcare. 

During her time abroad, Antonia obtained her DDS from the University of California, San Francisco in 2016 and worked in private practice until her return to Auckland in June 2024. 

With her unique blend of international experience and Pacific heritage, Antonia is dedicated to providing exceptional care to her patients. She is particularly focused on periodontal care, emphasising the importance of good gum health. Antonia believes in the importance of preventative care and education, and is passionate about helping her patients achieve optimal oral health. 

Like many in the dental profession, Antonia acknowledges the challenges posed by funding and privatisation. While not unique to New Zealand, these issues can impact access to dental care, particularly for vulnerable communities.
