Online GP Enrolment Now Available
GP enrolment forms are now available online in English, Samoan, and Tongan. This has been in development for some time and is a significant milestone. Many of our doctors and nurses speak a variety of languages, and health information is also available in several Pacific languages. Therefore, having our registrations in different languages was a natural move.
Sandra Valaau, Manager Practices, explains more about the reasons behind the move. 'We wanted to offer patients easier access to our services,' she says, adding that the process is super simple. Sandra says patients can now enrol wherever they are and at a time that suits them. It could be at work or at home. Technology comes easily to younger generations, but Sandra points out this is not the same for older people. 'We wanted to help our older community with opportunities to use technology,' Sandra says. Catering to the growing numbers who prefer online and the different ways our community can access our services is a priority for The Fono.
The new forms went live on 4 June, and people are already using the service. Sandra says there was much excitement when the first forms came through. She says that online forms make it easier for The Fono's staff to process new registrations, which is a win-win for everyone.
